Our beloved Martina is leaving us to embark on a new Travian: Legends adventure, but the team is happy to welcome someone new! Meet Pepper, our new Community Communications Manager.
Hi Pepper! First of all, tell us something about yourself/your background and how did you end up being the Community Communications Manager of Travian: Legends.
Hello Giulia and thanks for this interview!
I’ve been meaning to introduce myself for some time now so I think this is a great opportunity for the players to get to know me a bit better. My real name is Jose (but please call me Pepper), I’m from Spain, and I love strategy games like Travian: Legends! I’ve been in love with videogames ever since I was a kid. My older brothers were playing things like “The Curse of Monkey Island” and I used to just sit there by their side watching them making choices for this character and those choices affected the story and allowed it to move forward. It was like an interactive book. Ever since then I’ve been a fan of role-playing. Whatever the game is, I always believe I am the character that I am playing as. Just like with novels, that’s how I enjoyed the story the most.
So when I discovered that in Travian: Legends you can choose your path, I was entirely sold! I quickly fell in love with the idea of making a stealth army – something that I still do not know how to do, but that seemed really cool. Building a huge army far away from everything and then dropping it against your unsuspecting enemies.
I really like how complex the game is and also the dedication the community puts into it. There is just so much of the game that takes place outside of the browser that it just seems amazing to me. So I wanted to be a part of it as well. Helping players communicate with each other and our team so that we can have an even better experience playing together. Build our own stories.
What would you say is the most satisfying aspect of your job?
With a game that expands beyond the limits of the browser and with so much action taking place in alliance’s excel files and private Discord servers, being able to help improve that aspect of the game is my favorite part.
Last question. You sound like a gamer, so what are some of your favorite games?
Oh well, I play so many games that this list will never be fair, but some titles I can throw around are old-school console games like “Ocarina of Time” or (also old) RTS games for PC like “Warcraft” or “Cossacks”. I also played some “Ogame”, “Ikariam”, and “Grepolis”. But my favorite game right now is Travian: Legends. I love it.
